Position Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategically minded Accounting Manager to join our finance and accounting team. The Accounting Manager's responsibilities include performing the various month-end close tasks, analysis of general ledger expense transactions, oversight of all AR and AP transactions, revenue recognition, international intercompany transactions, and conducting general accounting functions. The Accounting Manager position is also responsible for providing the VP, Accounting and internal management with timely and accurate financial reports and cost research/analysis, and timely and accurate AP and AR transaction processing.

In addition, the Accounting Manager will perform a variety of accounting activities including month-end closing tasks, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and AR and AP transactional support for a SaaS company. This position will also assist with analyzing financial statements and reports, developing basic financial models and performing research and analysis as may be required by the VP, Accounting or Director, Finance.

This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to present financial information and reports in a concise and easily comprehensible manner and will require working knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP).

The Accounting Manager will also have management oversight of all AR, AP and GL functions within the accounting team. Previous leadership and management experience in these areas is therefore required to be successful in this position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Hire, coach and develop the accounting team
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, inventory, cost accounting, fixed assets, payroll, equity accounting, intercompany accounting, and tax compliance
  • Lead all aspects of the monthly/quarterly/annual financial close process to ensure timely and accurate US GAAP compliant reporting for both US and international subsidiaries
  • Oversees all phases of sales and use tax, property tax and value-added tax functions including planning, compliance and reporting
  • Work closely with external tax advisors in preparation and completion of accurate federal, state and international income tax returns, including related analysis and support with those related to ASC 740, to ensure accurate and timely US and International taxation filing and compliance
  • Work with Corporate Controller to evaluate, recommend and implement new financial accounting policies, procedures, and public company level internal controls to mitigate the risk of misstatements and safeguarding assets in a SOX compliant manner
  • Assist with management of the external auditor to ensure effective communication, timely delivery of materials and accurate audited financial statements
  • Initiate, review, and implement ERP system/process improvements to increase operational efficiencies while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the underlying accounting records
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to enable growth while managing financial statement risk
  • Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 10 years of Accounting experience, with increasing scope of responsibilities
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a team in the accounting function
  • CPA or equivalent, preferred

  • Experience in Technology or SaaS industry is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • NetSuite experience

Salary Range:

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $119,506 to $154,655. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
