Brain Corp, an artificial intelligence (AI) company creating transformative core technology in robotics, today announced the promotion of Jarad Cannon to the role of Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

As CTO, Cannon will lead all technical development within the organization, focusing on the continued advancement of Brain Corp’s AI software platform, BrainOS®, which powers the world’s largest fleet of commercial robots operating in public indoor spaces.

“Over the last 5 years, Jarad has helped lead software development at Brain Corp, helping advance our leadership position in the AI and robotics space,” said David Pinn, CEO at Brain Corp. “In this new role, Jarad will expand upon his proven leadership and industry expertise to ensure that Brain Corp remains a pioneer in the robotics industry and is well-positioned to bring the intelligence of BrainOS to more teams around the world.”

Since joining Brain Corp in 2017, Cannon has held multiple leadership roles, including most recently, Vice President of Software Engineering. In his time, he has overseen and played a key role in many of Brain Corp’s software and research development efforts across its portfolio of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), helping optimize performance, scalability and the cost of its platform offerings.

Prior to joining Brain Corp, Cannon was at iRobot for over five years where he worked on improving robot mapping performance to reduce time to generate maps and simplified system architecture while increasing functionality and capabilities. Cannon holds a Bachelor and Masters of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.

“When I joined Brain Corp back in 2017, I was tasked with building the teams that would bring the first robotic vacuum solution powered by BrianOS to market,” said Cannon. “At that point, we had roughly 50 total machines deployed. Since then, we have deployed over 26,000 robots, powering more robots in commercial public spaces – such as stores, schools, airports, hospitals and more – than anyone else. Now with our expanding portfolio of robotic applications like Inventory Scanning, we are situated to further drive transformative value to our customers and deploy thousands of more robots. I’ve been continually impressed by the quality of our engineering teams and technology, and I’m honored to be given the opportunity to lead such talented teams and build on the considerable milestones we have already reached.”

In other organizational moves, John Black has been appointed to the role of SVP of Strategy. Within this role, he will assume responsibility for bolstering and expanding the Company’s OEM and hardware partner relationships while also exploring and developing new application opportunities unlocked by its third generation autonomy platform.
