SAN DIEGO, CA, May 30, 2018 -- Brain Corp, an AI company specializing in the development of self-driving technology for robots, announced today it will participate in a panel at the upcoming San Diego Robotics Ecosystem Event, discussing the latest robotics trends and innovations, what’s here to stay, what is expected to fade out, and the realities and complexities of operating a robotics company in San Diego.

Taking place on Tuesday, June 5 at Qualcomm Auditorium Building AZ, the San Diego Robotics Ecosystem event is being organized by Hansol Hong of the San Diego Robotics Club and is additionally co-hosted by the San Diego section of the IEEE and UC San Diego RoboGrads. This gathering of business and academic leaders from San Diego’s booming robotics industry provides an exceptional networking opportunity for robotics and AI professionals and students. Attendees will hear opening remarks from Henrik Christensen, Director of UCSD’s Contextual Robotics Institute, and are invited to attend informative panel discussions and breakout sessions. The intention of this event is to jumpstart a conversation about how best to formally brand San Diego as a leading robotics cluster, ranking it among the Bay Area, Pittsburg, and Boston.“San Diego is globally recognized as a biotech and telecom cluster and we want to do the same for robotics,” said Hansol Hong, CEO of Robolink, a K-12 robotics education platform. “Many technology companies that are innovating AI, robotics, hardware, and a variety of drone applications are based or have a strong presence in the San Diego area. Given that Brain Corp is the most recognizable robotics start-up in the world and they are bringing a great deal of attention to what’s happening in robotics in San Diego, it is important they are a part of this conversation.”Participating in the event’s second panel discussion is Brain Corp’s Vice President of Software and AI, Jean-Baptiste Passot. Passot is responsible for leading Brain’s software research, development, and engineering team. “I’m looking forward to sharing my insights on the robotics industry–where it is today and where I see it heading–with the San Diego robotics community,” said Passot. “I’m equally excited to help ignite a movement to put San Diego on the map as a thriving and exciting robotics hub. It’s long overdue and will inspire greater collaboration among the robotics business and academic communities and help draw much-needed engineering talent to Southern California.”The event is open to the public, and those interested in attending can learn more and register here: https://www.meetup.com/roboticsclub/events/gnqqlnyxjbhb/About Brain CorporationBrain Corporation (Brain Corp) is a San Diego-based AI company that partners with manufacturers of commercial equipment and consumer electronics to convert their manually-operated products into autonomous robots.
